New Dothan Branch Opens With Ribbon Cutting

Apr 02, 2021

On Thursday, March 25, 2021, Five Star celebrated the opening of its new branch in Dothan, Alabama. The Dothan Chamber of Commerce and many chamber members came out to support the newest business in town with a ribbon-cutting. Standing in front of a Five Star Micro Market, Richard Kennedy, President and CEO of Five Star Food Service, opened the ceremony by speaking to chamber members and staff. The CEO stated that Five Star had a three decade history in Dothan but left the territory due to restructuring. Kennedy explained to Dothan locals what services Five Star Food Service provides and shared how excited Five Star is to be back in the Dothan, Alabama area.

Kennedy followed this sentiment by introducing Cathy Hamby (Customer Service Manager for the region), Scott Hale (Regional Vice President for Dothan), John Robbins (Vice President of Retail Operations), Landon Martin (Director of Risk Management), Mark Stephanos (Senior Vice President of Operations), CJ Recher (Vice President of Marketing), and Danelle Layton (Creative Services Director). In the introductions Kennedy thanked Landon Martin for heading up the COVID-19 task force that ensured Five Star’s merchandisers were wearing masks, gloves, and following COVID-19 guidelines. He went on to state that Five Star is unique because we offer eleven services. Five Star’s behind the scenes operations include a coffee roaster that can roast custom blends for office coffee clients along with a culinary center that packages large amounts of fresh foods that get distributed throughout our territories. In the forefront, customers see Five Star’s “bread and butter” as Kennedy likes to call it. The bread and butter includes the beautiful micro-markets and the vending machines that are placed in businesses all throughout the region.
