Five Star sponsors Shoes for School Event
For the third year in a row Five Star Food Service had the pleasure of being a booth sponsor for the Shoes for School event hosted by the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga! Over the weekend, we had the opportunity to help 400+ students prepare for the upcoming school year by providing them with valuable school supplies while giving them an upbeat attitude to kick off the school year with! The event started at 9 a.m., allowing all the kids to participate in fun and games before the event concluded at noon. The day was filled with engaging activities ranging from face painting (done by Five Star employees Sarah McNabb and Sarah Strickland), corn-hole, inflatable playgrounds, basketball shoot offs, and pizza and slushies. Everyone was then allowed to go inside and select their own pair of shoes as a first step towards a great school year.
Contribution through our booth was planned by our own Faith Warui who was assisted by C. J. Recher when handing out pencil pouches, lunch boxes, and miscellaneous school supplies. The expressions of joy and happiness on the faces of these parents and students is always well worth Five Star’s financial and time commitments that go into helping our community whenever we can. Many local organizations and businesses came together to make this a successful event including Enterprise, EPB Fiber Optics, and State Farm Insurance among others.
Walking in someone else’s shoes always gives a new learning perspective.
Five Star Food Service looks forward to participating again next year!
